Hammer attack on busy footpath

Police and ambulance crews responded after a man in his 20s was attacked with a hammer on The Walks, N2, on the evening of Thursday 14 March. The path is heavily used by pedestrians walking between Market Place and Church Lane.
The London Ambulance Service were called to the scene at around 7.30pm and sent a paramedic in a fast response car and an ambulance. The victim was treated then taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as not life threatening or life changing.
The Walks and nearby streets Leopold Road and Church Lane were cordoned off to enable police officers to search the area. “This incident was between two males who are known to each other,” said Jan Lovell from the Safer Neighbourhood Team. “It got out of hand and one of them was hurt. The offender is known to us and will be apprehended. There is little or no concern for the community`s safety.”
